More about Hairul Azizi Harun
How would you describe your photographic style? Do you follow a set of rules when you shoot?
My style of photography would be conceptual photography. This allows me to explore and express on the visual, storytelling, metaphors, emotions and interpretation of a picture within layers of meaning.
Any photographers you particularly admire?
There are few photographers that I really admire. It would be Andrew Kezzy from St. Petersburg and Yaman Ibrahim from Kuala Lumpur. They have been my inspiration throughout my photography journey.
What inspires you to shoot?
The interpretation of the content in a picture that I created. To me, I elaborate a photo
What advice would you give to aspiring photographers?
To create an artwork, the most important thing is to have sufficient knowledge on a topic or issues. You should be able to understand and analyse the facts that you are trying to portray in your artwork.
Where do you currently live and work?
I am currently staying in the east peninsular of Malaysia, Pahang. A place with beautiful beaches and lush green forest. Working as an educator in art in a community college teaching drawings, illustration and advertising.
What did you study – and how I got into photography?
I studied within the scope of graphic, illustration and advertising with a Bachelor Degree in Graphic and Design from MARA Institute of Technology faculty of Art and Design. I started photography when I met one of Malaysia renowned photographer, Yaman Ibrahim. I really admire his artwork especially in portraiture and human interest.
